The West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust are happy to announce that Lincoln based, Delta-Simons Environmental Consultants Ltd, will be starting work on the Site at Fell Greave Road, Huddersfield on Wednesday 5th May. This will signify the start of the development works for the new Children’s Hospice and respite centre the charity are currently fundraising for.

Delta-Simons, led by Kevin McGee, Geo-Environmental Consultant, will be carrying out the initial site investigation comprising the drilling of several boreholes together with laboratory analysis to identify the ground conditions below the site to assist in the design of the new buildings.

This will be the first stage of works for Delta-Simons, building works on the site are due to start later this summer.

Sarah Herrett, Head of Fundraising said, ‘We are very excited as the project moves forward and we are thrilled that thanks to the support of the local community we can start this work. So many people have supported the charity and now we need their support even more to ensure the service we provide for children and their families is the best it can be.’

Margaret Wadsworth, Head of Care added, ‘We are taking the first steps together and we are really looking forward to the day we can start caring for children.’

Snow Picture raises over £400

£435 has been donated by the Royal Mail for the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust.  The money has been raised by selling a photograph of the snow at Shore Fields Lane, Cop Hill taken by Jonathan Haigh of the sorting office in Slaithwaite during his delivery round on the 7th January.  The photograph was featured in the Examiner on the 9th January, and due to the interest it received Jonathan decided to sell copies and raise money for a local charity, a charity he has supported at other events..

Prints have been sold worldwide and via the internet.

If you are interested in purchasing a copy these are still on sale at the Royal Mail in Slaithwaite or by ringing Jonathan on 07793287736.  £7.50 per copy.

We have fundraising packs available on request, so please join in this week and help us to raise money to build our hospice and provide care in the homes of families who have children with serious medical conditions.
