Schools and colleges

Many schools and colleges in Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield fundraise for the charity, and every contribution makes a real difference taking us one step nearer to building our hospice and respite centre.  We value our relationship with the children as we feel they are an important part of our future fundraising.

Presentations

We love to visit schools and talk to the children in an assembly about the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust.  We explain what a children’s hospice and respite centre is, and about the children who will benefit.  ‘Big Ted’ visits primary schools and these talks can last for 5 mins – 15 mins.  Our DVD is appropriate for children in Year 5 and above.

Fundraising

There are many ways schools can fundraise for our charity, and we are amazed at the different ideas the pupils come up with.  We can supply you with an A - Z of fundraising ideas. A favourite is the ‘Sponsored Silence for Staff’ that seems to work very well!  Other ideas are:

• A blue and yellow day
• Sponsored events such as laps around the playground/sit ups/swimming lengths/sponsored spell
• Wear your jeans to school day
• Sport event – teachers v pupils
• Fashion show
• Bad Hair Day
• Name the Teddy
• Summer Fete
• Make your fundraising idea an ‘original’

Support

We will offer support at any fundraising event.  This includes

• Providing official sponsorship forms
• Advertising your event on our website/on the local radio stations/newsletter
• Offering advice
• Sending an ‘ambassador’ to talk to students regarding the charity
• Attending the event including cheque presentations
